He says that observation allows him "the contentment born out of trying to make sense of the world." Anderson's sculptures are intellectual conundrums as well, by rendering in steel and bronze common objects made of wood, porcelain and marble, by freezing or petrifying these objects, Anderson plays upon the dichotomy of function and non-function, of art verses decoration. Thus they are metaphors that evoke a certain reality, but speak instead of transformation and displacement. |
