Is Your Sun

Albuquerque Climate
is surprisingly moderated. Because of its high elevation at 5311' above sea level, Albuquerque enjoys cooler summers than much of the desert southwest, yet its southern latitude yields favorably warmer winter conditions.

Four Seasons
All four seasons are experienced in Albuquerque. A dusting of snow is common a few times each winter, but it seldom stays long in the city. The mountains to the east receive much more snow, and provide winter recreation activities like skiing and snowboarding directly accessible from the city via a beautiful aerial tram.

Spring comes early and fall is later than many parts of the country.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Festival in early October always marks the city's first cool fall days. Albuquerque's excellent weather truly is one of its many enjoyable qualities.

Blue Skies but Good Variety
Albuquerque sees lots of blue skies. In an average year 166 days are sunshine clear, 112 days are partly cloudy, and only 87 days are mostly cloudy.

Low Summer Humidity
Relative humidity in Albuquerque usually ranges between 18 and 69%, with the drier days occurring in summer. That means on the cities hottest summer days when temperatures hit the nineties (not often) the heat index rarely exceeds 100 degrees. And because of generally low humidity, summer cooling with evaporative coolers is efficient, economical, and common.

Long Days
Albuquerque's southern latitude is approximately 35 degrees north, yielding long summer days, with more direct overhead sunlight than many US cities.
