Albuquerque Biological Park offers 4 attractions for the nature lover and they're all in the same area, almost walking distance from each other. For those who want a ride, the facilities will be connected in April, 2005 with a narrow-gauge railroad. Albuquerque Acquarium - This facility houses a 285,000 gallon ocean tank and exhibits Gulf of Mexico saltwater species. Sharks, eels, sea turtles, reef fish and open ocean species will entertain you as to watch in awe. Rio Grande Botanic Garden - The garden currently resides on 20 developed acres, and includes a 10,000 sq. ft. glass conservatory. You can see native and exotic plants from desert and Mediterranean climate zones. Fly away with the butterflies in the seasonal butterfly conservatory. Rio Grande Zoo - The 64-acre facility was founded in 1927 and provides you with 250 species of exotic and native animals. Tingley Beach - An outdoor facility for enjoying the spring and summer. It offers a fishing lake, a separate model boating lake, picnic areas, paths and trails. A wonderful environment to spend a day with the family or with friends. Albuquerque Museum of Art and History - Contains art, history and culture of the Southwest. American International Rattlesnake Museum (Old Town) - Get the scoop on rattlesnakes and alleviate your fears. You might enjoy your summer excursions into the desert after your visit. Indian Pueblo Cultural Center - As the name states, this center presents Pueblo history and culture from a Pueblo perspective. Traditional Indian Dances & Artist Demonstrations every weekend. Free to the public. Maxwell Museum of Anthropology - Located at the University of New Mexico. The exhibits change constantly and are from the Southwest, the Americas and the rest of the world. |

National Atomic Museum - Will teach you about the nuclear era from past to present. Nuclear energy in its development of use has had its evil and peaceful intents. Observe both viewpoints. New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science - This is a hands-on museum featuring dinosaur artifacts, the Extreme Screen DynaTheater, as well as the Lodestar Astronomy Center - A planetarium with virtual science missions and a safe environment for looking at the sun.
